opium addiction
Opium has been around since the Neolithic Age otherwise known as the Stone Age. It became more popular through-out the age of the Egyptians, Greeks, Persians, Romans, Assyrians, Minoans and the Arab Empires through use of food, anesthesia and rituals. It’s most popular value was pain relief due to its contents of 12 percent morphine.
In today’s world however, it is not just used for pain relief and can be found as the cause of many overdoses due to its recreational purpose. The use of drugs is not typically for pain, it is more for pleasure so much so that many have no conception of time and end up overdosing on the thing they love most, drugs.
An opium addiction is no different and can give off the same addiction signs that other drugs do. A compulsive obsessive need for the drug, a hardcore need for just one more hit, it is the drug that makes you feel good and lets you feel in all other words to the aside, alive. That is why it is so addictive.
However, just like any other addictive drug there is a way to make the addiction go away and stay at bay through-out your life. First though you must be willing to hit rock bottom before you can build a force against it.
Your very first step is to admit that there needs to be a first step. You must first realize that you have an addiction which can be the hardest part of the whole process. Admitting a weakness is never easy but willing to get help for yourself, family and loved ones is empowerment and that makes you strong enough to fight it already.
The recovery process starts with rehab which will take you into detox. Once you have made it through detox you have successfully survived the hardest part you will have to endure. It is all uphill from there with group meetings, friendship building and counseling.
