heroin addiction

heroin addictionHeroin is not only illegal but it is also the most addictive drug known. There are many more people addicted to heroin than any other drug. There are many drugs out there in the world and most of them give off the same affect, pleasure. That is why people continue to use them even though their health is fading and their family has been torn apart.

Heroin is an opiate which is processed from Morphine and typically can be found on the streets as a white or brownish powder, though it can also be found in a sticky black substance which is called “black tar heroin.” Heroin is the most popular drug that causes overdose because those who use it do not know its full contents (because it can be mixed with various ingredients) or its full strength.

Due to the very fact that heroin is injected through needles poses a problem with transmitted diseases such as HIV. Many people who are addicted to heroin have friends who are addicted as well and they all share the same needle to get high.

With heroin being an opiate it can supply the body with certain pleasure all over. Starting with the spinal cord, pain messages can be blocked so that they cannot get to brain to allow a person to feel pain. Secondly, opiates can change the limbic system which in turn controls a person’s emotion making the full of continuous pleasure. Opiates can also depress breathing by changing up neurochemical activity in the brain stem which controls body functions. These three changes through opiates can make a person feel relaxed and completely pleasured. Heroin might sound like a good drug choice to decrease pain and feel pleasure but wait there’s much more to tell.  Heroin also can cause clogging of the blood vessels, liver disease, infection of the heart lining and valves, abscesses, pneumonia, pulmonary complications which can all lead to other health issues with in turn can lead to death.

Heroin addiction can lead to pain later in life no matter how much pleasure it gives out currently.
