dependence
Dependence and addiction go hand and hand, typically if you are addicted to a drug than you have a dependency on it.
You depend on it being there and if it is not there than you can have some withdrawal symptoms from it such as:
- Confusion
- Seizures
- Sweating
- High blood pressure
- Tremors
- Visual hallucinations
There are different kinds of drugs that cause this dependency and here is a list of a few:
- Nicotine
- Caffeine
- Androgenic- anabolic steroids
- High Blood Pressure medication such as beta blockers
- Opioids
- Benzodiazepines
Dependence can happen very quickly when our bodies decide that we cannot live without a particular drug. It becomes an obsession to take this certain drug and without it we cannot think nor do anything else except for thinking about that one drug and the way it makes us feel. When you have a dependency toward something you cannot live without it such as an infant depends on its mother or father to care for them.
If you have a dependence on something you should get help for it where you can. You should not live your life being dependent of anything or anyone, you should be able to start a drug such as a high blood pressure medication and stop it if you would like. However, due to the withdrawal symptoms which can sometimes be very severe people are not able to do that and end up having to have some form of rehab just to be able to live off these drugs.
Being dependent on something makes a person feel as though they are weak and cannot live their life through themselves but through medication, but a person is not weak. Rehab can help and a person who had become dependent is strong enough to fight it.
