addictions
Life is hard; people every year live with an addiction. These addictions mainly derive from hardships a person faces in life such as job loss, financial matters, loss of a loved one, peer pressure and even lack of “fitting in” to society. Society itself is a very hard fact of life, people judge, they tell others what they can and will not do, who they can love, what should or should not be worn and ultimately what the “right” way to live is.
Our world is very judgmental making people who do not fit in to “basic” ratio feel null and void in life which leads to drugs and alcohol. What a lot of people do not understand is that a drug or alcohol addictions are not the only addictions that can tear families apart and lead others to call the 1-800 number on the back of a magazine.
Shopping, gambling, pornography, and sex are all addictions and they can happen to high class people as much as they happen to lower class people. In fact, more people who have a higher class status are addicted to alcohol or prescription drugs more while those in the lower class bracket are typically addicted to drugs.
In America, 15 million people are dependent on alcohol and 500,000 of them are age nine to twelve. That is a scary statistic to think about, children are exposed to alcohol so much that some are addicted to it. I have to add that while some parents do their best to keep their children away from alcohol others believe that their kids life will result in becoming an alcoholic anyways so just let them be. This is why the drug addiction number and alcohol addiction number just keeps going up.
Addictions are hard to beat and for children who are left to drink or do drugs, they are given no hope to change their future. We should all make a positive impact in a child’s life and it starts by making sure they can say no.
