When it comes to the little addictions in life it’s true we all have one. Some of them come in the form of food, for others its smoking, drinking or drug use and for many people even gambling and shopping become an addiction. We all have been so obsessed with one particular object that it seems at the least unbearable to escape it.
Drug use however is one of the top addictions leading the United States population in the modern day. This is probably due to the world that surrounds us being that we have just witnessed the biggest recession since the mid-30’s and most of us are still trying to figure out how to dig ourselves out of the whole that was created in the center of our lives.
In 2007, a National Survey was taken by SAMHSA which witnessed more than 23.2 million American’s had claimed a drug addiction and tried to apply for treatment which is 9.4 percent of the US population. Of those millions of people, 20.8 million people did not receive addiction treatment.
Addiction is one of life’s toughest issues and it is not easy to beat. Many people have very little assistance open to them to motivate their resistance to drugs, alcohol and other addictions. Money becomes a huge issue when it comes to treatment plans the drug itself costs much less and is an easy fix when compared to the treatment.
However, for those addicted to drugs, life becomes better when the drugs are no longer of value. Treatment not only helps release the enticement of drugs but also helps to avoid any relapse that can occur. There are places in every state that are open to help those who are addicted and feel helpless. There are always people willing to help, take the first step.
