addiction recovery
Every year people die from smoking, drinking and drugs. It’s a hard world out there and many people find comfort in getting high or drunk. It not only passes the time but it helps calm the nerves and when you are feeling edgy all the time it can be your best friend. Addiction is the top hardship in America we all struggle with something that we are addicted to. It could be drugs, alcohol, smoking, food, gambling, shopping, gaming or even sex. With the addiction epidemic we face there seems to be no cure, but is there?
Addiction recovery is just one way to help us get back what we’ve lost to the addiction in our lives. It is just like going through school, each one of us had that one bully who always liked to pick on us. We would give into that bully and lose our lunch money, our shoes and ultimately our self-respect. The same thing happens with the very item that you are addicted to. If it is drugs then the drugs are you’re bully and each time you get high you are letting your bully take another piece of you.
Being addicted is very hard to overcome and sometimes it seems hopeless to even try but there is such a thing as recovery and it all starts with rehab and counseling. First you have to uncover the path to freedom of addiction before you can walk it.
Once you have begun the uncovering process you can then move on to the recovery process which usually starts with a 12-step program or group. The more will you have in quitting and getting your life back the faster the process will go. However, an addiction’s hold on you does not go away over night and it can be a long road ahead but well worth it in the end.
