addiction detox

addiction detoxAddiction is a very hard thing to break and sometimes the cravings seem hard to break away from. It grabs you from the insides and turns you into a whole new person, one that is not liked by your  friends, family or even yourself. You find yourself doing what you thought or hoped you would never have to do just to get to the high of your addiction. More people in the United States are addicted to drugs or alcohol than those who are not. It’s a sad statistic but with enough people willing to help, addiction can and will be defeated.

Detox is always the first step to helping anyone who has been caught in the path of an addiction. This is the basic ingredient needed to help wing a person from either alcohol or drugs and it is the hardest part of the whole process. This is mainly due to the symptoms and side effects that can resort from it.

Detox helps clear the body of drugs or alcohol which is needed to start a “clean slate” to recovery. This is needed because it helps to make sure there are no residual affects once recovery has started to take place.

There are certain drugs that make this process a lot harder on the person addicted and can make it even more painful as well. Drugs like heroin or even prescription drugs like Xanax or Vicodin can cause a person to become dependent on them and once that happens, the side effects of breaking their control can be extremely painful. Some of these symptoms are insomnia, depression, confusion, diarrhea, headaches, vomiting, abdominal cramping, seizures and hallucinations.

Detox helps with this pain as much as it can; it does a better job than trying to go at yourself. Addiction is the second largest killer in American due to overdose. That is a rate no one should be willing to live with anymore.
